This site is intended to provide a single location for sourcing electronic versions the 1981 Irish translation of the Bible 'An Bíobla Naofa' on the internet. 'An Bíobla Naofa' is available free of charge in a variety of formats for use with free Bible software.
Available in print and on CD-ROM
The printed version of 'An Bíobla Naofa' had previously been converted for the publisher into electronic format (Microsoft Word format and Adobe PDF format), which are available on CD-ROM. It can be purchased as either Book or CD-ROM.
Now available on the Internet - free of charge
It has now also been converted into other electronic formats suitable for use with some free Bible software programs. These are e-Sword for PC, Go Bible for mobile phones/PDA, and (will soon include) CrossWire applications for PC/Linux/Mac/PDA/Web. These are available for distribution and use free of charge. The Adobe PDF format files have been made available here also.
For more information on how to download the files and software in each format, click on the links in the main menu.
Thanks are due to the publisher, An Sagart, for permission to allow 'An Bíobla Naofa' to be distributed free of charge. Mons. Padraig Ó Fiannachta has generously facilitated this out of a desire to see the Bible in Irish made as freely available as possible.
Thanks are also due to those at e-Sword, Go Bible and CrossWire who have made Bible software available for free. Also, to others who have assisted in the conversion of 'An Bíobla Naofa' to these formats.
