Go Bible

Go Bible (Nokia 6303)

'An Bíobla Naofa' can be viewed on modern mobile phones (excluding iPhone which does not support Java).

The Go Bible program allows for easy navigation of the Bible text, as well as searching for specific words, adding bookmarks, and sending verses by SMS.

Download to a computer

  1. Click one of the Download buttons and save the file to your computer (file size is 2MB)
  2. Extract the JAR (Java Application) file to a temporary folder
(Note: use a suitable ZIP utility, or right-click the ZIP file and select ‘Extract All...’ if available)
  3. Copy the JAR file to the mobile phone using either USB cable or Bluetooth wireless connection
(Note: for Sony Ericsson phones, this must be the ‘Media’ folder called ‘Other’)
  4. If the phone doesn't automatically ask you to install it, use the mobile phone file manager to browse to the JAR file, and select ‘Install’ (or equivalent)
  5. If installation does not start, copy the JAD (Java Description) file to the mobile phone too, navigate to it, and Install it (it will use the JAR file in the process of installation)

If installation is problematic, consult internet forums for tips on installing application in general on your phone model.  Or visit the Go Bible forum (see the support page).

For older phones, download smaller files

Some older mobile phones have limits on the size of JAR files they can install.  Firstly, check that there is enough free space on in your phone’s memory to see if that is the problem.  If smaller files are needed ‘An Bíobla Naofa’ can be installed as multiple files/applications instead of a single one.  Select from the list of ZIP files below and copy and install the JAR files as shown above.  Install using all of the JAD files, if necessary.

2 x 1MB max files (Irish Program)
2 x 1MB max files (English Program)
5 x 512kB max files (Irish Program)
5 x 512kB max files (English Program)

Download directly to your phone

Instead of downloading to a computer, you can download to your phone directly from the internet.

  1. Using your phone’s web browser go to wap.anbioblanaofa.org
  2. Select and click one of the links to download JAR file
  3. Install should start automatically.  If the phone doesn't automatically ask you to install it, use the mobile phone file manager to browse to the JAR file, and select ‘Install’ (or equivalent)

Note: downloading directly to your phone will be charged at your web browsing rate - the file size is 2MB

Transfer between phones using Bluetooth

If the JAR file has been downloaded, either from a computer or directly to a phone from the Internet, it can be sent by Bluetooth to another phone.  Follow the instructions above for installation after receiving the JAR file.  If necessary, transfer the JAD file also.
